FLEET RACES GENERAL RULES

Foreword

Nadeo’s Virtual Skipper 5 is an online sailing simulation game. During the game ISAF rules are generally applied and penalties are inflicted to non-complying players.

Whoever plays in www.vskrestart.it. it must be aware of the fact that the ultimate purpose is having fun for everybody; therefore all players must respect opponents and be fair and proper.

Art. 1 – Behavior while chatting

During races insults and offensive words are forbidden. Game’s chat is to be mainly used to address race’s matters. If an abuse is observed, than the host can kick or ban the offending player.

Art. 2 – Acknowledgement of Rules

When enrolling to a race, players implicitly declares that he is accepting all of the Rules here and those in that particular race one, and to accept penalties received and any action taken by race’s Staff

Art. 3 – Host and Staff’s commitments

Host and Staff are providing a service to all players and, most of the times, are players themselves; all player’s cooperation is therefore requested to make their task easier. We are confident in everybody’s common sense and propriety during race.

Art. 4 – Rules

All of Vskrestart’s races will be carried out according to following Rules:

ISAF rules as applied by VSK5 virtual referee.

All of the races will be in “tactical” mode.

It is forbidden to cancel any penalty except those cases explained in following article.

Lag’s induced penalties cannot be cancelled

If one player should ask and obtain a penalty’s cancellation, he will be requested by host to carry out a 360° turn; non-complying players will be kicked by host and classified DNF.

Art. 5 – Exceptions to Rules

Rule 16.1 penalty. If a player thinks that he received a wrong penalty he is entitled to require a cancellation. In this case cancellation is compulsory. Skippers who will not cancel will be kicked from the race

Rule 17.1 penalty. If a player thinks that he received a wrong penalty he is entitled to require a cancellation.

Cancellation is compulsory while beating or close reaching while is forbidden while reaching. Reaching is when it is clear that, starting from the buoy you just passed, you can navigate to the next without taking down you spinnaker.

Art. 6 – Starting Races

Courses will normally be on line ten minutes before expected starting time. All players must know race’s password which will not be given in game’s chat, in order to keep not enrolled players out of the game.

Art. 7 – Lag

Due to possible problems on Internet connection, it is possible that a boat’s behavior could be erratic and retarded. This behavior, even if unintentional, can cause problems to other players, often generating wrong penalties to non guilty boats. Even if it is impossible to eliminate this problem, some procedures will be followed to keep it to a minimum:

a) A “lag test” will be carried out before official start. During this time all players are requested to inform about any observed lag; in this case Host will evaluate the matter and eventually, after a restart, problem enduring, will decide what to do. If only one player is lagging, he will be requested to quit the race; if not complying he will be kicked. Host will save a reply’s copy to solve any complaint from that player. If lags are caused by host, Staff will change and provide a new one.

b) Lags after start. If lags are observed and pointed out during the race, KEEPING IN MIND THAT YOUR HOST IS RACING WITH YOU AND CANNOT BE EVERYWHERE, the offending skipper will be requested to quit or, if necessary, kicked. If several players lag, Host and eventually present Staff members, will decide if the race is to be completed or terminated.

Art. 8 – OCS Players

First start will always be valid irrespective of the number of OCS skippers; a restart will never be granted because of OCS.

Art. 9 – Delays and Disconnections

Delayed or disconnected players will be allowed to race only if Nadeo’s servers will allow them to be in the game. If a “time change observed” message is linked to a player, he will evaluate if keep racing or quit. If he keeps racing he will have to save a complete replay of his race and send it, within 24 hours, to vskrst@gmail.com. His race will be considered valid only if no “forward bouncing” of his boat is observed. Failing to send the replay or in presence of “forward bouncing” he will be classified in last position.

Art. 10 – Disconnection after start

If the race’s host is disconnected after start:

a) If it happens before that last player passes the downwind buoy, race will be restarted.

b) If it happens after the last player passes the downwind buoy, race will not be restarted. In case a reply of the race is available to Staff, then rank will be that of last buoy’s passage; otherwise qualification to final will be computed referring to the valid races only.

Art. 11 – Time Limit

Any boat arriving more then five minutes after first classified, will be ranked “DNF Not Arrived”.

Art. 12 – Disciplinary Actions

Any player who:

a) Keep an improper behavior in chat (curses, insults, obscene words);

b) Keep a unsportsmanlike behavior in order to damage other players;

can be punished by staff, even immediately in the case foreseen by Art. 1, 4 and 5. Sanctions will be, for example and by degrees, admonition, penalization, banishment from the race and/or by the tournament, suspension for an indicated period from Vskrestart races. Staff’s decision will be unquestionable and final. Vskrestart’s Staff could attach, if possible and not imperatively, to their findings any document, replay or statement available. Staff’s findings will be published in the appropriate forum’s section within seven days, and sent to the player via e-mail.
